Wood turning is a method of mounting wood on a lathe and spinning it with enough speed and force that a cutting tool can be presented to it to cut and shape it. Traditionally, functional pieces such as bowls and platters, tool handles, and many other useful items were and are made. Architectural items such as balusters, table legs, other decorative objects are also turned on a lathe.
